Our History

Founded in 2010, the Changing Children’s Worlds Foundation (CCWF) has based “ICDP-USA: The Best Start”™ on the International Child Development Program (ICDP). In 2011, CCWF held its first ICDP-USA Facilitator Training Workshop in Chicago, and on March 21, 2012, was incorporated as a 501c3. (Established in 1985, ICDP-International was founded by 4 Psychologists from Norway, Sweden and England, and is recognized by the World Health Organization and UNICEF globally.)

CCWF has trained 536 professionals in the “Best Start.” Facilitators at schools, mental health agencies, community organizations, jails/detention centers, social services and others, support social/emotional skills and social advancement for parents and children, especially in communities with high levels of poverty, exclusion and violence. To-date, CCWF has conducted 120 total programs, serving 1,804 parents, and over 4,519 children (birth to teen).

Our Mission

The Changing Children’s Worlds Foundation (CCWF) mission is for every child and adolescent to be supported in positive development by caregivers and professionals within loving, non-violent families and peaceful communities. Through parent groups and educational workshops we strive to promote a sense of community and foster empathy and restorative justice for all.

Our special Youth mission is for our “The Best Start: All About YOUth” program to support Youth to succeed by providing a stimulating social/emotional learning experience that strengthens students’ knowledge, confidence and capacity to succeed not only at school, but also at home. And this is especially needed by youth in the current COVID-impacted era.

Our Vision

CCWF aims to reduce exposure to violence and aggression for every child and caregiver, allowing positive development and well-being, so new generations are supported to have improved opportunities in life. We believe that our programs and outreach can help create a future where every child  is supported in positive development by caregivers and professionals in loving, non-violent families and peaceful communities.
